Seoul CTPM and IP Workshop ○ Date : 5 June 2015 ○ Venue : Korea Institue of Finence, Seoul, South Korea Green Technology Genter to host "Seoul CTPM and IP Workshop" with China and to sign MOU with HILCC On June 5th, the Green Technology Center (GTC), Asian Development Bank, Korea Institute of Finance (KIF) and Yonsei University co-hosted the "Seoul CTPM (Climate Technology Promotion Mechanism) and IP (Intellectual Property) Workshop", sponsored by the Ministry of Strategy and Finance, at the KIF. The workshop was a follow-up discussion of the workshop held in Hunan, China from March 25th to 26th. The theme of the workshop was on the "Measures to finance the IP climate fund for projects to enhance energy efficiency and improve new renewable technologies in Asia-Pacific region. The President of GTC, Sung Chang-mo delivered the welcoming remarks and the chief researcher Hyung-ju Kim presented on "GTC's Climate Technology Cooperation Model and Activities" in the first session. Additionally, the GTC also signed "GTC-HILCC (Hunan Innovative Low Carbon Center) MoU" to further promote the cooperation to seek for efficient measures to establish a mechanism to transfer domestic green technologies and maintain closer cooperation with the HILCC. Currently the HILCC is taking a leading role in innovation of technologies to effectively respond to climate changes in China with the international society. It has also continued its efforts to promote more assistance program such as Venture Capital or Start-Up to nurture companies with green technologies, utilizing the government support to promote low-carbon development in Hunan. With the newly signed MoU, both institutes will work hard for the specification and growth of HILCC and establishment of the cooperative mechanism along with the Asian Development Bank.

Participated in the Inaugural ceremony for MoU Signing and the launch of the K-A Business Network for "By-Products in the Mining Industry" ○ Date : 16-19 May 2015 ○ Venue : Australia On April 17th, the Green Technology Center (GTC) and Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources, or KIGAM, signed a business agreement on transferring and expanding Korea's green technology to the world through global networks. With the signing of the agreement, the two institutions will 1) create a global convergence in technology business and network in the area of organic and inorganic by-product technology and industry, 2) conduct feasibility study on the green technology transfer and research on relevant policies, and 3) transfer and expand Korea's green technology to developing and advanced countries. From May, The GTC visited Osaka to take a part in and deliver a keynote speech at the symposium to commemorate the launching of "Asia Convergence Technology Business Network" co-hosted by the GTC and KIGAM. The symposium laid the ground for establishing networks for commercializing Asia's recycle technology and developing convergence technology on a global level. Discussions were also held on measures to utilize international environment funds and multilateral development banks for the development and commercialization of sustainable technology in major Asian developing countries. In addition, Visited Queensland, Australia, from May, to participate in the launching ceremony of the "Korea-Australia Mine By-Product Business Network" jointly organized by the GTC and KIGAM. Through the visit, progress was made in strengthening cooperation between Korea and Australia on energy resources and expanding cooperative relationship between the two organizations. Going forward, relevant projects will be carried out through coordinated efforts with the Queensland state government.

The ICLEI World Congress 2015 to discuss "Local and National Government Cooperation for Green Technology and Sustainable Development" The Green Technology Center introduces new green technologies for future cities in the "ICLEI World Congress 2015". On April 9th, the Green Technology Center (GTC) participated in the ICLEI World Congress 2015 which was held first time in Asia in 20 years and organized the session under the theme of "Green technology, sustainable development and international cooperation". In the session, the agenda was "Local and National Government Cooperation for Green Technology and Sustainable Development". Participants discussed the measures to cooperate for development and urban solutions such as low-carbon infrastructure. Participants also shared various cases of international cooperation worldwide. Participants from the Germany National Institute for Development and Cooperation, Incheon National University, and Bureau of Environment and Green Space in Wonju actively took a part in the discussion. The ICLEI World Congress 2015 was all the more meaningful as it laid out the groundwork for practical ways to exchange and cooperate in the field of green technology. Session B5 : Local and National Government Cooperation for Green Technology and Sustainable Development ○ Date : 9 April 2015 ○ Venue : Large Lecture Room, DDP, Seoul, South Korea ○ Session's summary : This session will feature the experiences from local governments working with national government agencies and international technical capacity-building institutions on issues including city-city cooperation, capacity building and low-carbon infrastructure or green city development. The session participants will be informed on the collaborative structures, partnership models, and lessons learned from implemented cooperative programs/projects at the local and national level which have proved successful in delivering tangible outcomes for local sustainability. In sharing experiences on how to effectively work with national government and international capacity-building partners, this session sets out to strengthen local efforts to secure collaboration from national and international partners.
