The First organization in Korea winning UNFCCC TA project (Guinea)


For the first time as a Korean agency, the GTC won the bid for the Climate Technology Center-Network’s technical assistance projects for developing nations.


ㅇ Project Name : Optimizing Access to Funding for Climate Change Adaptation Technology Projects

    - The project was based on TA request by the Guinean Ministry of Direction for Environment.
       The objective was to identify climate adaptation technology projects in Guinea that are worth investing
       in and to find available funding for them.

    - The GTC won the bid for this project by forming a consortium with a GERES*

    * [Consortium partner] GERES (Group for the Environment Renewable Energy and Solidarity)
: A member of the CTCN and a non-profit organization specialized in international development projects related to climate change response, renewable energy, and other environmental issues.

ㅇ Objective: To support capacity-building of Guinean national finance experts and establish an appropriate funding structure so that the nation can execute high priority projects for climate change adaptation.

ㅇ Contents

- Support to train climate change adaptation experts

-­ Help design and operate programs for adaptation experts’ capacity-building

-­ Make strategies to approach potential finances (relevant institutions) and make a list of financing systems.

Expected Outcome

­ Secure experts to manage and execute climate adaptation projects and form a financial partnership with investors
