Dutch students learn about Korean Green Tech culture at GTC

Students from Vrije University in the Netherlands visited the Green Technology Center Korea (GTC) on March 3, 2016, to learn about technology development R&D, implementation into the market and green technology startup culture in Korea.


The 20 students were taking courses in green technology, business and innovation at the research university in Amsterdam said they had selected Korea for their annual study tour as they had wanted to visit an advanced East Asian economy to learn more about how green tech R&D and business was done there. They had also visited Seoul National University, Yonsei University and Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) as well as other Korean institutions during their week-long trip.


After being greeted by the head of the Division of Global Strategy GTC-K, Dr. Hyung-ju Kim, the students watched an introductory video and presentation on the GTC-K, followed by a presentation on Korea’s green-tech related national plans and strategies. They learned about GTC-K support for Korea’s national plans for eco-friendly energy towns, as well as national strategies for climate response core technology, transferring microgrid technology to developing countries. They were also introduced to Korean green tech small and medium enterprises including Forcebel which manages municipal waste, Wooin which is now selling its energy efficient Vacuum Steam Boiler in Mongolia, and CM Partner which has produced an electric solar powered hybrid bike. 


To end the visit, Dutch students also visited the Green InfoLab where they viewed some products created by Korean green tech SMEs.
