The International Conference on Science & Technology Innovation and Development - ‘GTC-KEI joint session’

On September 10th, the Green Technology Centre (GTC) and the Korean Environmental Policy and Evaluation Research Institute (KEI) organized the joint session of the first International Conference on Science & Technology Innovation and Development at the Sheraton Seoul D-Cube City.

This session was conducted among green technology experts who gathered to seek ways to bridge the gap between technological innovation and development cooperation.

With “Green Technology for Climate Change Response in Developing Countries” as the main topic of the session, the GTC’s International Strategy Officer, Kim Hyung Joo, introduced the roles and activities of the GTC under the technological and financial mechanism of UN agencies and the UNFCCC and also its multilateral governance system of international cooperation through a presentation on the GTC’s ‘Global Green Development Cooperation Model and Implementation Status’. In addition, the progress status and related outcomes of the Green Island demonstration projects (Philippines Bantayan Island’s CCUS project, WTE project in the Dominican Republic and so on) which are currently ongoing, were also presented.

Each participant presented their comments regarding different topics eg: the Global Green Growth Agency (GGGI) on ‘developing green technology diffusion strategy’, Kyonghee University on ‘Germany’s Climate change technology international cooperation and technology transfer mechanisms’, and the KEI on ‘climate change adaptation technology for developing countries in the Asia Pacific’.

In addition, through discussion and a Q&A session, different know-how and individual country’s experiences on green technology international business as well as comments on close cooperation and development of developing countries were broadly exchanged.
