Hosting “The GTC-KEI Special Joint Session” at the biannual conference of the Korean Society of Climate Change Research


The Green Technology Center (GTC) and the Korea Environment Institute (KEI) hosted the “GTC-KEI Special Joint Session” at the “2015 First Half Year Conference” arranged by the Korean Society of Climate Change Research on 13th of August.



At the joint session, policy researches that both institutions had carried out related to climate change responses: mitigation and adaptation were introduced.



Under the theme of “The Study on a Response Plan to Climate Change with Green Technology”, the GTC gave presentations entitled “Plan for the Response to Climate Change in Urban Areas using Green Technologies”, “Big Data Analysis of Climate Change in Press Release and Social Media”, and “Research of Future Convergence Technologies for Climate Change Adaptation and Risk Reduction of Natural Disasters”. 

 


The KEI presented the results of researches carried out based on the measurement and evaluation of climate change impact. The titles of presentations provided were “Policy Proposals based on Climate Change Impact and Adaptation Capacity”, “Introduction to Multilateral Impact Measurement Method and Tool for Low Impact Development (LID)” and “Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment with the Use of VESTAP”.



The GTC and the KEI announced the possible expansion of the mutual research cooperation in order to support the development of national policy related to green technologies and climate change adaptation.



In the session, approximately 50 researchers and members of institutions and academy attended, showing an active participation in each topic. Questions and opinions were presented for climate change solutions and the future direction of public policies.
