2015 Future Energy Forum

The President of Green Technology Center, Sung Chang-mo participated in the "Future Energy Forum 2015" under the theme of "New strategies for energy in the era of climate changes" hosted by Chosunbiz, an economic analyst media. He especially highlighted the significance of green economy in the forum. 


In the second session of the forum, the GTC President Sung Chang-mo presented on "The prospect and strategies of green industry in China" during the discussion. He said "Among the seven plans to develop new strategic industries that the Chinese government announced in 2010, four of them are closely related to the green economy." "China is planning to take a dominant role in green economy paradigm in the international society by associating the concept of ODA and green industry products." he added. He further emphasized that "Since the green industry is a new growth engine for China, it is expected that the Chinese government will take a lead to proceed with green development reform."


In the following session, the discussion continued on the question of "Where does Korea stand when China aims to become the world's top green industry country?" The president Sung answered "Korea initially introduced the idea of green economy. China has simply benchmarked the existing model in Korea." He also added "As two countries have similar strategy for growth and China comparatively has higher growth potential in green industry, Korea should take more strategic approach."


Additionally he further stated that "the construction of the Silk Road in China will be the essential source of capital for the AIIB." "In order for Korea to take a pioneering position in green growth between China and AIIB, more preparation is definitely required." he added.
